Double digits club

Woop woop very excited as I have reached the double digits club, I have reached my 10th blog! To celebrate, my friends have bought me some balloons:

Thanks guys (you really didn't have to)

Although this should be a day of joy I am quite frustrated as I can't get the black writing at the top to be white. Arg.

Anyways I have been working hard (bugging journalists) and finally had some success. Time and Leisure have said YES. Event Magazine have said YES. (Lets not forget the Burntwood newsletter!) Not sure if I have shown you this or not but this is what Envision posted for us http://www.envision.org.uk/news_items/512. We have also had personal 'Thank yous' and 'Well Dones' from War Child and Envision.

Oh. I almost forgot. We have a total. (imaginary drum roll please)....£816.66. All going to War Child. Thank you EVERYONE.

I have reached my 10th blog and it turns out that I'm getting popular and people are requesting to be mentioned! A big shout out to my Auntie Sarah who has read every single post of mine and who last Sunday (27th) treated me to a lovely day out at the Vitality Show. Thank you Sarah (most people think she is my sister due to her amazingly current fashion sense and glowing complexion)!

Only a few more blogs till we become a stroppy teenager.

Nevermind, must dash.

9

9.

Quite a boring number really.

Casually just woken up from a nap.

Woke up to see a cupcake on TV. Now I am craving one.

Enough about me, on with the blog....

Now, unfortunately I still cannot show you any pics from the balloon release with kids in.There is a child at the front of all the pics from Swaffield Primary School whose pic cannot be published. *sigh* But we are working on it. For now I can show you some pics of our team plus some pretty balloon pics as well as some inspiring notes to Akiki. (child soldier)

Hope you enjoyed looking at them. We all had a great day and have raised £800 so far.

My next step on the agenda is to get some media attention and I am working hard and have 3 magazines on my side at the mo along with the 'Around Burntwood' newsletter and an article on the Envision website.

Now, I always thought that journalists were very professional so I tried really hard to send very formal e mails, until today when I received an e mail saying "Sorry-getting my Lucys mixed up" That is all it said. Enough said.

We are having a final count of all the money raised so far for War Child tomorrow so I shall give you the total asap. I have my giant cheque ready (one of the privileges of having a mum who works in the bank).

I seem to have mentioned 'Envision' a lot recently so just for those of you who don't know; Envision are an organisation who help young people to help others. http://www.envision.org.uk/about They have all been very helpful during our time raising money for War Child. AND they are also following this blog. AND my Twitter. AND Tug of War's Twitter. So here I go again-please follow this blog, or me on Twitter @lucyedyer or us on Twitter @Tug_Of_War_, every follow helps (plus Sadiq Khan follows us)!

I have given Envision my article about the balloon release which should be posted soon (Yes, calm down! I will send you the link) but they have also sent me some questions that they would like me to answer so they can find out more about me and my team so I best get cracking on that!

Thanks again for reading amigas and amigos.

I shall love you and leave you (for now anyways) (thats what my Mum always says on the phone)

Ocho

The blog number is in Spanish today in honour of the Spanish exchanges who are in town!

Okay, so today was a BIG day. Yes, for those elephant minded ones of you (good memories!), today was our balloon release and it went brilliantly in so many ways. I can only tell you about the proceedings at Wimbledon Park because I haven't spoken to the rest of the group yet but I know everything went swimmingly and I can always fill you in on all the juicy gossip another time.

We arrived at Wimbledon Park at 2:15pm (right in the middle of break so were ambushed by kids mesmerized by balloons-I felt like the Pied Piper). We went straight to the Year 6 class to set up. The kids were all very well behaved. We started with a presentation teaching the class about who Tug of War and War Child are and what they do. We then told them a real life story about a child soldier in Uganda named Akiki. The whole class were very interactive and eager to  learn more. We then set the children the task of writing a 'hope note' or message to Akiki which would then be attatched to their balloon; one child's read Don't give up Akiki, people care. Some schools then took this time to give the children a worksheet with a timeline on where the children compared their lives to that of a child soldier. Just before 3pm we gathered the children outside, in the lovely eco garden (and tied their balloons to their wrists to stop them blowing away)! We then counted down....

8
7

.....and the balloons were released. This photo was taken at Wimbledon Park. Swaffield and Allfarthing primary schools are very close together and I hear that their balloons could be seen at the other school which is truly great. I will upload more pics as soon as I get them (I am on a tight dedline). I cannot upload any with children in unfortunately.

The event was a huge success as the children had a great time and discovered that not all children are as lucky as they are and were all eager to help.

I really hope that my time for helping War Child is not over. We have been in contact with Sadiq Khan and he is willing to help support us in future events. We are also hoping to have articles published in a few local magazines so keep you eyes pealed (it is likely that I will bug everyone with the links anyway)!

Yours truly,

the Pied Piper

Secret 7

Evening bloggers and blogees. I have so much to say that I don't know where to start.

Just to satisfy the curious ones of you-no, this blog is not secret. It just takes me back to my days of reading Famous 5 and Secret 7.

I am so sorry it has been a while since my last blog but I have just been very busy (It's hard being popular....I joke). The problem is; I can't remember where I left off on my last blog (probably an enticing cliffhanger).

As you all know, Tug of War have been raising money for War Child around school recently and so far we have raised £790! But now our BIG event is finally here. Before I tell you about that I will fill you in. On Friday the whole of the Tug of War team went to a meeting at the Envision offices (Envision are the organisation who help and encourage young people to raise money and awareness for charity). Here, we met a lovely lady who seemed very impressed with our progress (and may even read this very blog). I won't bore you with the details but we did learn a lot about how we can continue to help War Child over the coming years (yes, that means more blogs). Furthermore....we got T shirts (I know, you're jealous and really wanna see a pic of our super cool, matching T shirts) Well hope now longer, scroll down to see a pic of us at the Envision offices:

Okay so tomorrow is the biggest day in Tug of War's life history. Tomorrow is our balloon release to raise awareness for War Child. We will be going to 4 primary schools: Wimbledon Park, Brandlehow, Allfarthing and Swaffield. 2/3 of us will spend the afternoon at each primary school working with one year and teaching them about the lives of child soldiers with visual aids such as presentations and the story of a child soldier-Akiki, along with a timeline work sheet where the children can compare their lives with one of a child soldier. We are hoping that this will help us to raise awareness for this great cause. Then, at 3pm all the schools will release 30 ish balloons into the sky at the same time with 'hope notes' attached. So if you leave near these areas please keep your eyes on the sky. I would love to hear if you see one of our balloons; if you do please comment on this blog or write to me on Facebook or Twitter (Tug of War, @Tug_Of_War, @lucyedyer). Please tell all your friends.(and get them to read my blog too).

We are now being followed by Sadiq Khan on Twitter which is very exciting and he contacted saying that unfortunately he cannot attend our event but wishes us luck and supports us.

Hopefully our event will get media coverage in Event Magazine, Time and Leisure and the Wandsworth Brightside.

Oh my gosh! Everything I have written just disappeared but I managed to get it back! Phew-never felt so scared.

SSIIIXXXXX

Hello there bloggers, it seems as though it has been a while.

For starters (before I tell you this weeks juicy gossip), I will inform you of the significance of blog 6's title. You see, when I was just a wee las and I used to play Ludo with my Nan, every time I rolled a 1, in the tiniest voice I would say "measly one". But every time I got a 6, I would bellow in the loudest voice possible...."SSSIIIXXXX". So there you go- you learn something new about me during every blog.

Okay, so you've heard about the Tug of War, Cake Sale and Assembly (if you haven't you should feel ashamed and read my earlier blogs). The next on the agenda is Thursday's quiz. I am upset to say that we didn't get the turn out that we had hoped for, but would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who did come and watch. Although the audience wasn't as large as had hoped. The student and teacher teams were FAB-U-LOUS. And yes, I know what you are all thinking-and yes again, there was the perfect amount of banterlicious goodness to satisfy me. The quiz whittled down all the way to a TIE BREAKER (this excited me a lot)-"What is the population on Canada" (closest wins). Although both teams were VERY far off.........the teachers won in the end! They were then rewarded with War Child badges. We managed to raise £17 during the quiz, and as I always say-every penny counts. Thanks again to everyone who watched and took part. Enjoy these mouth watering pics below (I spoil you):

The Big Event (and me hushing the raging crowd)

The Bantermeisters

The teachers studying hard

However, by far, the best event of the week was Friday. As you may remember that I told you that Tug of War (our charity group) were planning to dress up during school hours to raise money for War Child. Well all 10 of our group braved the cruel forces of Burntwood all in the name of charity-and actually managed to raise LOADS of money (turns out people are pretty generous). Before I tell you the amazing figures, take a look at these bad boys:

Tug of War United

Minnie Mouse (team manager)

Sexy cats

Pink ladies

Pongo and Purdy

Tail-icious and tail-less

We got a huge amount of support from EVERYONE at school and I would like to take this moment to literally thank everyone who came to the Tug of War, bought something at the cake sale, baked for the cake sale, listened in assembly, came to the quiz, donated on Friday and helped to organise anything!!!!!!!!!!! Everything you lot have done has been greatly appreciated and will help someone, somewhere in the world.

Now time for those all important numbers. I have good news and bad news. Unfortunately I cannot tell you exactly how much we have raised because we haven't finished yet. I lie, there is no good news. The other piece of news is phenomenal. So far we have managed to raise £700 in just 5 days! The even better news is that we haven't even finished yet! All your help and support is going to help children affected by war, including providing them with an education and integrating them back into safe communities. For more information on War Child visit http://www.warchild.org.uk/ or follow them or us on Twitter @WarChildUK and @Tug_Of_War_. I literally cannot thank everyone who has helped enough. Remember: being part of something special, makes you special. YOU GUYS ARE ALL SPECIAL. Don't worry, it's not too late-if you still want to donate just contact a member of Tug of War at school, on Facebook-Tug of War or on Twitter @Tug_Of_War_ / @lucyedyer.

Now, I know what you guys are all thinking now (yes, I am psychic). You are thinking "Now that their week of events are over is Lucy (Yes, that's me) going to stop blogging? Because if she does I don't know what I will do with my life!" Well, NEVER FEAR-I have a lot of life left in me yet, which means a lots more blogs to come (not quite sure what I am going to write about yet though mind)!

Thanks again for all your help and support (just by reading this blog you are supporting me and raising awareness for War Child and Tug of War). If you find my blog interesting, I give you my permission to share the link with friends and family (and strangers)! Much appreciated.

High 5

After taking quite a while deciding whether it is 'Hi 5' or 'High 5'. I will now continue with the blog....

Blogging while babysitting (I'm sure the kids will be fine)
Just to start, here is an inspiring speech from Glee: "Being part of something special makes you special".

Yet, another successful day in Tug of War's week of events for War Child.

Today, our whole team took part in whole school assembly (a first for me). I know what you are all thinking: "Did she say Whore Child?" Well NO I didn't :D I will let you into a little secret though. One team member, Hannah, was meant to say "All children deserve the right to safe play", instead she said "All children deserve the right to SELF play" hahahahahaha spot the mistake!

Thank you to everyone who came to assembly-that is the younger years whom it is compulsory for and the ONE 6th former who turned up to support us (thanks guys). Massive thank you to PRISCILLA MENSAH! Hopefully more will turn up for the quiz tomorrow..... Before I bore you by discussing the quiz again, I will show you some pics from assembly (seeing as the people reading this were probably not there) :/

Me and Nat: (I wasn't as bored as I look....promise)
Saima and Hannah: (before she said "self play")

The whole team + Mrs Dorman and Naomi (War Child representative-2nd left on top row) (I know, she kinda looks like one of us):
War Child are an international charity that protects children living in the world's most dangerous war zones. They currently work in Iraq, Afghanistan, Uganda and D.R. Congo. We at Tug of War are helping them to raise money and awareness. One way that you can help is by answering my poll on the side to test how well known this charity is. Their vision is to see a world in which the lives of children are no longer torn apart by war, and their mission is to support and strengthen the protective environment for children who, as a result of conflict, live with a combination of insecurity, poverty and exclusion.

As well as opening everyone's eyes to the terrible problems occurring in Uganda, Iraq and Congo with facts and statistics, Naomi also told a heartbreaking story about a previous child soldier called Julliet (see link below). Hopefully this tragic story with a happy ending will encourage more people donate to help children and many others like Julliet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Mj2ooJJD3A I am not very good at inspiring speeches but to learn all about War Children just visit http://www.warchild.org.uk/ or War Child's official YouTube page or follow them or us on Twitter @WarChild UK, @Tug_Of_War_. I had never heard about War Child before I started this project, however, now that I know about it there is no going back until these problems are solved.
You may remember Saima saying in assembly (if you had bothered to turn up) : "Get angry....get involved" And trust me, getting involved couldn't be any easier. ...
Yes, I'm talking about the (long awaited) quiz! I can now officially name teams:
Teachers:
Mr Bull (English)
Mr Gibbs (English)
Ms Aboobaker (Science)
Ms Howes (Geography)
Ms Jeeva (Maths)
Mr Tedd (Science)
Students
Sabrina Begum
Hannah Young-Mc Hugh
Saima Mujeeb
Maryuma Bader
Mariam Khalfey
Fatemah Moledina
Hosts
Natalie Spreckley
Lucy Dyer (me)
£1
Drama Hall
Tomorrow lunch
Muchas gracias
(don't make me beg for an audience and banter again pleaaaaaase)
My long awaited dream was achieved today: having a flag put up for something I had done and today the United Nations flag was raised for Tug of War and War Child. Yaaayyyy
Believe it or not, I don't think I have anything else to say. Just remember: "Being part of something special makes you special".

Blog number 4

Me again (running out of remotely interesting blog titles now)

It's all go!

I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped to organise and bought something from the cake sale today. We managed to raise £154.83 which means we have raised over £200 in just two days! With all this money going to such a worthy cause http://www.warchild.org.uk/

We all wore our matching War Child t shirts today, and apart from when a 'gangster' year 9 shouted to me "OI WAR CHILD TURN AROUND", I felt priviledged to be wearing such a shirt and be involved in something so special with a really hands on team. Now, I don't want this blog to get too soppy. However, below is a pic of our team (minus one-Fatemah) in our War Child t shirts. (I am top middle) :D on a lovely sunny day. Spread the joy!

The next pic shows my hard working team trying to not eat all the cakes before the sale began

OH NO! THEY DIDN'T SUCCEED

Just kidding....WE SOLD EVERYTHING. Down to the last crumb. Thank you guys xxxxxx

One thing I learnt today is that tarts are much more popular than I expected. The jam, apricot and bakewell went down a storm. Who knew?

Natalie and I finalised the quiz today (for Thursay-£1 a ticket). The quiz consists of 4 rounds, 6 teachers, 6 students, 2 hosts and a French word I can't say. To be a part of this all you have to do is pay is £1 (which will go directly to help a child affected by war), plus you don't want to miss out on all the banter! (I am aiming for a 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks'/'A League of Their Own'/ '8 out of 10 cats' banter situation.) Such fun! If this doesn't happen I will look like such an undescrible fool in front of an audience of 3 and 6 teachers ): I am ruining my reputation on Friday (in a onesie), please don't make me lose it any earlier.

When Natalie came round after school today, before we started the quiz there was a much more important post on the agenda-trying on onesies!!!!!! I'm just gonna put it out there-mine is a rabbit suit. It is grey. Has a white belly. A hood....with ears. And a tail. Need I say anymore? They are unbelievably comfy though!!!! Again, if you would like to sponsor me it would be greatly appreciated. To donate directly to War Child just simply visit this link: http://www.warchild.org.uk/donate

Tomorrow morning is whole school assembly and 4 other people from my group and I are speaking. My friend (and team manager) Sabrina is worried about having to tilt the microphone down (because she is quite small) and being laughed at. My worry is that I will stutter (with my lisp and inability to pronounce 'th' correctly), laugh and probably snort in front of the whole school and forever be teased by the 'gangster' year 9s. To make matters worse I can now imagine myself saying 'Whore Child' instead of 'War Child'. Man, I am such a loser that this will probably happen now! Anyway, the lovely schools manager at War Child-Naomi is coming into school to speak in assmebly too, this should give everyone a proper insight into what War Child does. So I will see everyone in assmebly tomorrow morning! Bright and early (I have to be in school an hour earlier than usual-good grief). Oh well, all for a good cause.

I always say to myself that I should make these blogs shorter cos nobody bothers to read them at the best of times but I seem to have so much to say about my, lets be honest, boring life! (don't know what I am going to write about when this week of events is over-what I have for breakfast most likely) Fun times!

I have decided that next blog I am going to tell you all about War Child, Child Soldiers and what they do and where your money is going. For more information follow these people on Twitter @lucyedyer @Tug_Of_War_ @WarChildUK (Yes, I will probably tell you this every week)!

Thank you for reading and thank you for all your help!

See you in assembly-remember: just an ordinary teen doing something extraordinary for charity. Please help.

Catch up soon

Adios bloggers!

(going to watch 90210 now)

Blog the third

Welcome back

As you may remember, last blog I left you on a thrilling cliffhanger. For those who don't or have just tuned in. I was about to tell you about the exciting charity event that Tug of War have planned for Friday 11th. Well....you are going to have to wait a wee bit longer. I'm a tease-I'm aware.

Right, I recently told you that our first plan of action was to have a literal tug of war today to promote our group (Yes, Tug of War) and raise money for War Child. Well it would seem it was a raging success. It turns out many people will pay to watch girls fall in mud and guys tense their muscles and pull (oh, hhm, saucy) :D Whatever their reasons we managed to raise £50 which is a great start, so thank you to everyone who helped organised (I provided the rope-essential), joined in and watched. (including teachers).

Tomorrow is the ever popular Cake Sale to take place outside the 6th form block at lunch time and again, I must stress ALL money goes towards War Child. So, along with my homework, driving lessons, checking Facebook (clearly), revision and watching Eastenders (another essential) I have baked flapjacks, cupcakes and cookies. So it is dire that everyone at Burntwood school buys something tomorrow otherwise I will end up morbidly obese.

I know you are all sitting on the edge of you seats waiting to know what the big finale is for Friday. But first I would just like to remind you all about the quiz on Thursday at lunch time in the drama hall. I have hired out the drama hall so if no one turns up I will look like an ultimate loser to Ms Dunn and if that doesn't persuade you to come, maybe the fact that the whole of your £1 will go directly to helping War Child and if that doesn't persuade then I can officially announce the student quiz team:

Fatemah, Sabrina, Hannah Y-Mc, Mariam and Maryuma
and part of the teachers team:
Mr Gibbs, Mr Bull and Mr Tedd. (to keep you interested and watering at the mouth I will savor the rest for another day)

I think you have waited long enough, on Friday, to raise money for War Child, members of my group (Yes, Tug of War) and I will be wearing.............(drum roll please)............ONESIES to school. Along with the ultimate humiliation comes the hardship of using the toilet! So, please donate generously. To sponsor me please comment below (still not sure how this whole blogger thing works), write on my Facebook wall, tweet me @lucyedyer or just talk to me at school (the old fashioned way). Hope you're not bored yet but again I must confirm that all money goes towards War Child. Remember: many teenage reputations will be broken on Friday 11th at 8:50am.

One day down; 4 to go. (yes that does mean at least 4 more blogs)! woop woop

I have just been informed that I have to get into school 25 mins early tomorrow. That means I have to go to bed earlier, wake up earlier, snooze for less, have a shorter shower, spend less time getting dressed, spend less time doing my hair (which takes a while-I am a victim of frizz), spend less time doing my make up (which takes a while-I am a victim of spots) and walk to school faster (which takes a while-I am a victim of short legs). The things I do for charity aye!? And all you have to do is enjoy a cake, watch a quiz and break down in hysterics when you see a bunch of year 12s in onesies and sponsor them to do it. Please, remember every penny counts.

I think that is all I have to say today, as well as another massive thank you to everyone involved in the Tug of War. For more information on anything please do not hesitate to comment below, follow me on Twitter @lucyedyer or follow us on Twitter @Tug_Of_War_.

For your enjoyment (and to try and spruce my blog up a bit) I have (tried to) upload pics from todays tug of war.

au revoir bloggers

Blog numero dos

Here we go, lets see if I can get used to this blogging thing.

Week of charity events for War Child is quickly approaching and there is much to be done. Seeing as you nice people came back to my blog (I am hoping you read the first), I will tell you what the plans for next week are-any support would be greatly appreciated.

Day 1-Monday 7th

In order to advertise our charity group, Tug of War (hoping you remembered from last time), we are having a literal TUG OF WAR. This will take place on our school fields and will involve teachers fighting students (6th formers only-don't want any younger years getting squashed by Mr Darter), along with the usual girls v boys (girls rule-clearly). Unfortunately I am unable to attend the event, however, being the extremely organised person that I am (OCD), I have put up posters, printed leaflets and even provided the rope (I have contacts everywhere). Fingers crossed it doesn't rain, if it does we have two options: One-everyone fights in the rain (doubles hilarity factor of situation but means for a lot of angry teachers during afternoon lessons). Or two-we fight in the gyms (boring). Seeing as I will not be there to witness an angry Ms Latima Jones-I vote for option one. Tickets for the Tug of War are 50p and can get bought from the field gate.

Day 2-Tuesday 8th

Lets face it-who doesn't love a good CAKE SALE?

I'll let you into a little secret: I will be baking my world famous (well, almost) Rocky Roads and Flapjacks (for recipe just comment below)! For all those from Burntwood, the cake sale will take place outside the 6th Form block. If you look past the end of your nose and stop ripping them down you will also notice there are posters all round school.

Day 3-Wednesday 9th

Practically wetting myself: I have to speak in whole school ASSEMBLY. I have never done this before and speaking in front of 1500 students kinda gives me the shakes (I find asking a teacher for paper scary)! However, I know it is for a good cause and I am doing everything I can to promote or group-Tug of War, and raise money and awareness for War Child (hence the blog). The assembly aims to open people's minds to this amazing charity that does not receive the media attention it deserves (not that a blog from me is gonna help that)! We are also going to use the assembly to shamelessly plug our next event...

Day 4-Thursday 10th (hope you're not bored yet)

Yes, it's QUIZ day. And yes, you are reading the blog of the....quizmaster! (please, no need to stand)! If you think taking part in a quiz is hard-try writing one. And to make matters worse, it is a teachers v students quiz, so all questions have to be up to teacher standard (yes, wetting myself again). I have been told we (my co host and I ) will be getting microphones. This excites me a lot. We are now to be referred to as the new (much younger....and prettier) Ant and Dec (clearly I am Dec). Tickets to watch the quiz are £1 and can be bought on the door.

Day 5-Friday 10th

I'm not that generous.....along with blog number 2, comes cliff hanger number 2.......you'll have to come back soon (most likely Monday night) to hear all about Friday's events. I will also fill you in with the antics from Monday's Tug of War, along with pics (if I can work out how to do that). :S

Obviously ALL donations made during the week of events (and all other times), go directly to War Child.

I have recently been tweeted by a guy from uni who is learning about child soldiers who wants to know my opinion on the matter. This made me happy as I realised that there are in fact many people fighting for this good cause. For more information on the matter follow @Tug_Of_War_ or @lucyedyer on Twitter and follow our Facebook page-Tug of War. Please help me do everything I can to help this amazing cause. If you ever wish that you didn't have to go to school-just imagine what a 9 year old child soldier in Uganda is doing right now-and think again.

I am a pretty bog standard average teen. Writing a blog. Watching The Simpsons. (supposed to be revising) and babysitting. I am not special. But by going out of my way (while trying to balance the tribulations of teenage life) to help children in war ridden countries, I am doing something pretty special. So please-do your bit too. Literally-every penny helps someone!

To further the media attention I have managed to get an article in the 'Around Burntwood' newsletter (woop woop). So, I hope you're not bored of my voice (or the voice you put on in your head while reading what I write) :S

oooooooh I forgot to tell you the most exciting news. During our trip to War Chid headquarters for a meeting. We were given...wait for it....T- shirts (come on, who doesn't love a good, free, T-shirt). So look out for a bunch of girls all wearing the same T-shirts next week! (Yes, totally planned).

(still not sure how blogging works-am I supposed to thank you for getting this far)? Thanks for reading and thanks for all your support so far.

Bye bloggers

Pilot:Introducing Tug of War

Here goes: Blog number 1

Hello all, to those that are reading my very first blog,

To introduce myself: I am budding young journalist, studying my A levels at Burntwood school, learning to drive, cleaning my room and trying to combat the issues of child soldiers in areas such as Uganda with the help of my team Tug of War and the charity War Child all at the same time. So just your average, stressed out, spotty teen really.

Not only is this blog to kick start my journalism career it is also to advertise my team's new charity group. We are raising money and awareness for War Child charity http://www.warchild.org.uk/. Our team name is Tug of War and this is to resemble the ongoing struggle between child soldiers and civilization as well as the struggle between War Child and the government to achieve the Millennium Development Goal number 2 which is to achieve universal primary education.

I believe that we should all do our bit to help someone and these children are in dire need of help. So I am helping to arrange a variety of events through March to raise money and most importantly, awareness for War Child. This amazing charity does not receive the publicity it deserves so I am doing everything in my power to get it noticed. Including Twitter and Facebook pages plus articles in magazines. If by some astronomical chance, a high powered, charity loving, superhero reads this ametuer blog....HI THERE. However, anyone reading this can help by simply following us on Twitter @Tug_Of_War_ and on Facebook-Tug of War.

Throughout next week and the rest of the month we have loads of great events planned in our community and I will blog daily to keep you updated. Hopefully as my blogs gets more exciting, more people will read them. To try and create a cliffhanger I am not going to tell you what the events are just yet and who we have involved, you will have to come back tomorrow to find that out and discover how you can play your part.....cheeky, I know. (or you could just read it on our Facebook page) (;

Thank you for taking your time to read this. For more information or help, please follow me on Twitter @lucyedyer and please spread the word!
